Dear visitor: This web site dates back to 1997 and was last updated in May 2001. Although the web site and the software are no longer maintained or sold, I devoted my life and spent thousands of hours between 1989 and 2001 to write these software packages, and as late as 2007 I heard from a customer that it was still in-use.

Among the few copies I sold, some big organisations (including the US Government, US Navy, Giants Stadium, and an Ontario utility company), were using my software in MS-DOS, then Windows 3, Windows 95, Windows 98, and I even heard recently from someone running it in Windows XP, so you can rely on it to keep your data safe even though it is no longer updated. It will also run in Linux under the DOS emulator (DOSEMU).

You can use it without pay, just ignore the shareware plea for payment that appears briefly on start and exit. I hope you find the software useful.

The most common problem with WVH when it is moved to a new computer is that you must increase the number of file handles available, since MS-DOS and Windows all allow only 40 files to be open at once and WVH needs 41. The steps to do this in Windows XP are as follows:
1) Open a command window by clicking Start, then click on Run, then enter the word command (without quotation marks), and press ENTER.
2) Type cd \windows\system32
3) Type edit config.nt
4) Use PgDn or down arrow to move to the bottom of the file; change "FILES=40" to read "FILES=45," then press Alt+F then the "X" key to exit, press ENTER or click "Yes" to save the changes.

In MS-DOS and Linux DOSEMU, just edit config.sys and change the line that says "files=40" to say "files=41."

Shareware Limitations
Shareware downloaded from this site may be used for the purpose of evaluation for up to 60 days. After evaluating the software you must choose whether to erase it or purchase the Registered Edition which includes a registration key, printed manual, bonus software, and telephone technical support.

All Computer Wizardry shareware is fully functional so that you may evaluate every feature. As the 60-day evaluation period draws to a close you will begin to see registration reminders on the screen which will become more frequent as time goes on, but you will never be "locked out" and your data will always remain safe & intact. Your data and the time you spend putting it in the computer is as important to me as it is to you.

Free Update Policy
Once you register a package you are entitled to free updates from this web site. Any updates you download will recognize your registration key (which you get with your Registered Edition) and will operate as a properly registered package.
